July is always a busy month for me at work because we have a huge sale during that month. So I already know that I will be too busy/lazy to take care of my natural hair and I’d rather catch some ZZZZZ’s instead of putting bantu knots or flat twists in my hair.

When I know that the next couple of weeks are going to be too hectic for me to give my hair some TLC, I choose to do a protective style. I go poetic justice.. Jumbo braids!

It’s important to keep your hair hydrated while your hair is in a protective style. Here are some products I use to keep my hair healthy and hydrated.

1. Water: Mist your hair with water.

2. Vital Oils by ORS: Contains grapeseed oil and sweet almond oil. It soothes the scalp and penetrates the hair shaft. PERFECT for dry hair and scalp. I rub this oil on my hair and scalp.

3. Leave-in Conditioner by Creme Of Nature: Strenghtens, moisturizes and adds shine to my hair. I lightly mist my hair with this.

4. Intense Moisture Crème by ORS: I put this on my scalp when I don’t use the Vital Oils. Makes your hair soft and helps to restore the moisture balance to dry hair and scalp. Contains avocado oil, coconut oil and many other vital oils.

I don’t wash my hair when I have box braids because natural hair gets curly when it’s wet. The shed hair gets caught in your hair which creates knots and tangles.

I apply these products on my hair every two to three days or when my hair feels really dry.

I will write a post to share my wash day routine after I take my braids down.

Interesting read on your approach. I do wash my hair when in braids and have a nightmare with the shed hair when it comes to the takeout and first shampoo 😢
