My favorite natural hair products

May 25, 2016

It has been about three years since I’ve put down the relaxer kit aka the creamy crack to embark on this infamous journey to get to know and love my natural hair which is also known as the natural hair journey.

I decided to transition just because I didn’t want to be bald and I still wanted to be able to have boxbraids etc. My goal has always been to have healthy hair, the length didn’t matter. Length will come eventually if you take good care of your hair. I did tons of research and found what worked for me. After some time my hair grew longer and the products I was used to didn’t work for me anymore. Here are some of my favorites that I’ve been using now.

L-R: KeraCare Natural Texture Leave-in conditioner, Aunt Jackie’s Curl La La, Curls Crème Brule whipped curl cream

To keep the moisture in my hair I use the loc-method (liquid-oil-cream). The liquid does not have to be a leave-in conditioner, it can be just water as well but I like to use the Natural Texture Leave-in conditioner by KeraCare. I follow that up with olive oil or coconut oil and proceed to lock everything in with Aunt Jackie’s Curl la la defining curl custard or the Crème Brule Whipped Curl Cream by Curls.

L-R: Shea Moisture Raw Shea Deep Treatment Mask, Crème Of Nature Moisture and Shine Shampoo & Intense conditioning Treatment, ORS Hair Mayonnaise.

Wash days occur once or twice a week. Before I deep condition with the Raw Shea Deep Treatment Mask by Shea Moisture I shampoo my hair with the Moisture and Shine Shampoo by Crème Of Nature. When I co-wash, which I do at least once a week, I use the Intense Conditioning Treatment by Crème Of Nature. While adding all this moisture to your hair is a great thing, adding protein to it is also a must. To do so I use the Hair Mayonnaise by ORS every 3 to 4 weeks to keep my hair strong and healthy.

Which products do you like to use? Let me know in the comment section below.
