6 tips to grow long, healthy natural hair fast

In 2013, I said goodbye to the creamy crack and I’m never going back. After transitioning for 11 months I chopped off all my relaxed ends. My hair has never been healthier and longer. I’ve always had a lot of people asking me what I did to grow my hair so healthy and long. So I thought “why not blog about it?”

  1. Trims

Get your hair trimmed at least twice a year. This will prevent split ends from travelling up your hair shaft and causing more damage. You will retain more length if you catch it early.

  1. Moisturize

Dry hair is your enemy! Nothing good comes from it. Make sure to moisturize your hair every two days or whenever it starts losing its moisture.

  1. Deep condition once a week

This step is so important. Buy or make a really good hair mask that will penetrate through your hair strands and give your hair the moisture it needs.

  1. Protein treatments once a month

After everything you do to your hair, it needs to regain its strength. Give your hair a protein treatment once a month. I love to use Hair Mayonnaise by ORS.

  1. Protective styling

The key to growing your hair is keeping your hands out of your hair. Your hair needs to be protected especially during the cold winter months. Bring out your best wigs and weaves or your braiding and twisting skills

  1. Finger detangling

Take your time when you detangle your hair. Don’t do it when you’re in a rush or when it’s dry. Try to use your fingers to detangle as much as you can. This will allow you to get your hair strands out of knots in a better way than doing it with a comb. You can keep using tools to detangle your hair, but use it in moderation. (2)


Going natural is the best decision I’ve ever made. It wasn’t easy but it was definitely worth it.
