I’ve always been the one who doesn’t have breakouts. As a teenager I never had acne except for a few pimples when auntie flow (aka my period) was in town. That all changes in February when started getting pimples after pimples, whiteheads and blackheads. My skin changed drastically and even got extremely oily. Every time I thought I found a remedy it just got worse and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out what caused my skin to get so bad. Mind you, I was and still am watching what I put into my body, I workout etc..
Two months after the breakout and a hint from a co-worker I finally figured it out. I stopped taking my birth-control in December. The reason I made this decision is because I’m not a fan of taking medication when it’s unnecessary. Taking too much of anything is not great for your body and I had been on the pil since I was 17 so I felt like it was time for me to let it go.
So after I figured it out and went through my old blogposts about skincare to figure out which products my dermatologist recommended back in the day. These are the products I’m currently using:
I use the Effaclar Duo (+) to keep my face moisturized and matte all day. It also evened out my skin and reduced the size of my pores. The Effaclar K (+) helps to get rid of all the dark spots. You will notice that your skin will start to peel after day two. I only use this at night as this is not really moisturizing for me but it really does what it says. To cleanse I use the Purifying Foaming Gel and Micellar Water. All these products are non-comodogenic which means that none of these will clog your pores.
I can already tell a difference in my skin. It’s much more even and my pores are not as huge as they were. Now I just need some of these pimples to stop poppin’ up. The only step left is for me to make an appointment with my dermatologist so this skin can be POPPIN’ again. Stay tuned for the update!
