How to prevent & get rid of cold sores!

October 25, 2015

Cold sores can be caused by numerous things like stress, exhaustion, over-exposure to the sun, being on your period etc..

Not only are they annoying and gross, they can also take up to a week to get rid of. I’m here to share two of my holy grail products that help me to prevent and get rid of them.

You can go the natural route to get rid of cold sores by using a sterilized needle and vinegar to dry it out but it’s too much work and painful. Trust me, been there, done that.

When my lip starts itching or has a tingly sensation that I can’t get rid of I know that I’m about to get a cold sore so I just apply a thin layer of this lip cream called “Aciclovir Teva Labialis” on my lip. This prevents me from getting one.

Sometimes it’s just too late to use the lip cream and I wake up with a new addition to my lip. I then use this invisible patch for cold sores by Compeed. I put this on the area that needs to be treated for at least 12 hours. This is a lifesaver guys! You can barely see it after the treatment!

When you’re dealing with this it’s important to throw away all the things you’ve used (lip gloss, toothbrush, lip balm, etc..) when you had the cold sore. If you don’t, you’re going to have to start this process all over again.

Last tip: Protect your lips from the sun by using a lip balm that has SPF in it. I love to use the ones by Chapstick.
