Waxing vs Shaving: What’s best?

April 20, 2016

Oh spring.. That time of the year when a lot of us ladies feel that warm breeze and are tempted to show a little more of those smooth legs before that hot summer weather hits us again..

Yes, we are all guilty of procrastinating on a lot of things including shaving or waxing our legs. Some put it off for a day or two, some for months.

After hiding our legs for those long, cold winter months and paying less attention to them it’s that time of the year to get all serious about it again.

Here’s why I think waxing is better than shaving.

Smooth skin

You can kiss your ingrown hair worries goodbye! You don’t have to worry about dry, itchy, inflamed and bumpy skin when waxing. Plus the wax does not only remove hair and dead skin cells, it also contains some sort of moisturizing lotion that helps to keep the skin smooth and moisturized.

It’s fast

When you shave you can only get small amounts of hair at a time and don’t forget the nasty cuts you can get that can lead up to scarring. Waxing is a lot faster, you get much more hair at once and if it hurts, the pain disappears right away. The more you get waxed, the less it hurts. I mean do you remember the first time you got your brows threaded or waxed?

Long lasting

When you wax it takes longer for your hair to grow back since the root of the hair has been taken out. That is what damages the hair follicle and causes it to grow slower and thinner and eventually stops growing (in most cases).Which is great in the long run because you can go longer without a wax.

Easy access

It’s as easy to find a waxing kit in your beauty supply store as it is to find a couple of razors. If your pockets do not allow you to go get waxed every 4-5 weeks than you can buy one of these kits and do this at home. You can also make wax from scratch at home. Just watch a few tutorials on how to make it, buy a couple of waxing strips and you’ll be good to go.

If you’re looking for a temporary fix then shaving is for you, but if you’re like me and want something permanent, long lasting and fast then you should go for waxing.

Head over to your local spa and get ready to part ways with the wildebeest you were hiding in your trousers and feel the breeze on that smooth skin.
