I started working out a few weeks ago and I haven’t looked back since. I don’t even crave unhealthy food because I actually eat what I like, tastes good and is healthy. It’s all about maintaining the right balance. I’m very motivated and I actually look forward to my workouts. This is how I motivate myself to hit the gym.
Create a workout plan
Plan your workouts ahead of time. Look at your schedule for the coming week and see if there are any classes you can attend at your local gym. Try to workout on the same days every week to create a routine for yourself. Plan the areas you want to work on on that particular day. Don’t forget, it takes 30 days to form a habit.
If you’re like me and you were that person who could survive off of 1 meal a day, which is crazy, then I really suggest you use MyFitnessPal. I cannot stress enough how important your calorie intake is especially when you work out. Keep in mind that your body needs fuel to get through a gym session. I use this app to make sure that I eat enough during the day. All you have to do is insert what you’re about to eat or what you already ate. It will then tell you what you need more or less of.
When I do HIIT workouts I always use the Tabata Lite app. This helps me to complete every single round. I just set everything up before I start so that I don’t have to keep looking at my phone or count out loud.
Trick yourself into a gym session!
Take your gym clothes with you to work if you have been slacking or not looking forward to a workout. This is the way to trick yourself into going to the gym. After all, who wants to carry around a bag of clothes and sneakers all day. Keep your goals in mind and hit the gym.
‘ I regret going to the gym, said no-one…. ever
I love to buy new workout clothes, especially when they match my shoes. It gets me excited to wear them to get my sweat on during a 30 min cardio sesh!
Instagram, Youtube and Snapchat are my holy grails to keep me motivated and inspired. Before I started my fitness journey I did tons of research on nutrition, specific workouts, trainers etc.. I can say that I have learned a lot from reading up on these things, watching videos and talking to a succesful personal trainer. Click the links below to see some of my favs.
